SHETLAND SHEEP

Shetland sheep are a small, hardy, and friendly dual purpose breed kept for their fine wool and quality meat. They originated in the Shetland Isles of Scotland, and are considered a “landrace” breed, which means they have naturally evolved overtime to be well adapted to the harsh, infertile lands that would be otherwise agriculturally useless, in the Shetlands.

In the early 1990s, friends introduced us to Shetland sheep, and we were immediately enamored. It would not be until 2020 when we finally brought our first ewes home. We started our flock with unregistered animals, and as of 2023 have expanded to include registered ewes.

CHICKEN & DUCK FLOCK

The spring of 2018 marked the start of our poultry flock. We began with pekin, mallard, and khaki campbells and the following spring added chickens to the mix. Our flock supports all our egg needs, and occasionally provides an excess, allowing us to share with friends and neighbors.

If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.
